Biography
Born in Parma on 29.11.1957. He obtained his scientific maturity in 1976 at the Liceo Scientifico G. Castelnuovo in Florence with a vote of 56/60. He later attended the University of Florence. In the academic year 1978-79 he was an intern student at the Surgical Pathology led by Prof. L. Loddi. Since 1980, an intern student at the Medical Clinic headed by Prof. GG Neri Serneri. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in the summer session of 1982 with the highest marks and praise discussing an experimental thesis (correlator Prof. GGNeri Serneri). Admitted to the School of Specialization in Cardiology at the University of Florence was the winner of a national competition for a scholarship for the attendance at the School of Specialization. In 1986 he received the Specialization in Cardiology with the highest marks and praise by discussing a thesis on the pathophysiology of pulmonary circulation. From May 1983 to July 1984 he served as an undercover medical practitioner at the Neapolitan School of Carabinieri in Florence. In 1990 he received a Doctor of Medicine degree in Clinical Physiopathology, discussing a thesis on the regulation of the lung circulatory system. From 1985 to 1991 he served as a cardiologist specialist at the Coronarica Mobile Unit in Florence. During the same period he has been working as a specialist outpatient cardiologist assigned to various Local Health Units of the current Hospital 10. Since graduation, Dr. Rostagno has continued to attend the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Florence, carrying out charity activities and research activities. In 1988 he spent a 4 month period at the Emodynamic Laboratory of the Hospital Division of the Molinette Hospital in Turin (Primary Dr M. Casaccia). In May 2000 he spent a period of training at the heart transplant center of the Rush Presbiterian Hospital in Chicago, directed by Prof. Maria Rosa Costanzo. In 1991 he won a competition for assistant role of medicine at the Careggi Hospital Company and in 1993 he was co-author of Cardiology Assistant at the same Hospital Company. In February 2001 he participated in a public competition for senior level II cardiologist at ASL 11 in Tuscany, who was eligible for the exam. Prof.Carlo Rostagno in March 2004 was the winner of Comparative Evaluation for Associate Professor in Internal Medicine by serving as Associate Professor - Critical Area Department - on February 1, 2005 and assigned to SOD of General Cardiology 1 (Prof. Gian Director Franco Gensini). He is currently a member of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine (Prof C. Poggesi).
