Biography
Clara Maria Silva is Associate Professor of General and Social Pedagogy, professor of Intercultural Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Florence.
Research Interest
Clara Silva is linked to issues of interculturalism, with particular attention to pedagogical issues and educational needs related to migration, the processes of globalization, multiculturalism and the condition of Italian society. And it is in this horizon of studies that Clara Silva took care of the following issues: a) Problems of theory and methodology of intercultural education, with particular reference to social changes related to immigration and globalization. b) Strategies and Methods of Integration of Foreign Students in Italian Schools with Special Needs Education of Young Migrant Children Present in Early Childhood Education Services. c) The relationship between schools and immigrant families: from the analysis of empirical situations, proposed models of interpretation and intervention. d) Models and educational options for teachers and educators who work in intercultural contexts with particular attention to the first and second childhood. e) The gender dimension in migration processes, by analyzing socio-cultural integration of migrant women. f) Analysis of issues related to the inclusion of social and occupational integration of immigrants, with attention also to the youth of immigrant origin.
