Daniela Manetti

Biography

Graduated in Pisa in 1972, Greek Literature Researcher at the University of Pisa, then associate professor of Classical Philology at the University of Florence; Professor since 2003.? I have studied texts relevant to the history of Greek medical thinking since its inception (see Hippocrates, Epidemic VI, Florence 1982, critical edition, with A. Roselli). My interests are not limited to Hippocrates but include the history of medicine until the imperial age and late antiquity, p. es.Celso's medicine, the medical text known as the London Noble (Berlin Critical Edition 2011), Erotic, Galen and its tradition (1980, 1985, 1986, 1992 etc.), in particular its linguistic and grammatical culture; more generally the history of exegesis in medicine. I have reviewed the critical editions of Hippocrates texts in the "Les Belles Lettres" series. I co-author of the Vocabulary of the Greek language of F. Montanari, 1995 (2nd edition 2004, 3rd edition 2013). I am a member of the Scientific and Editorial Committee of the "Corpus of the Greek and Latin Philosophers" and URR 8167 Research Group of the CNRS "Orient et Méditerranée", "Médecine grecque", directed by Véronique Boudon, Paris. I am part of the Scientific Committee of the journal «Galenos» and «Eraga / logoi». • Living abroad, with DAAD funding, Wellcome Institute, CNR (CNR-NATO handbags): Hamburg (1978) and London (1985, 1991), CNRS in Paris (2008);of the Humboldt Stiftung in Berlin (2012). I gave conferences and attended seminars in Italy and abroad. I have organized conferences (Pisa 1996) and seminars (Florence 1998, Pisa 2003, Florence 2007, 2010 and 2011) and I have been publishing the related Acts. • Professor invited to the CNRS UMR 8167 group "Orient et Méditerranée" in Paris from October 2008 to January 2009, and at Humboldt University in Berlin from October to December 2012.
