Biography
Enzo Pranzini was born in Florence, Italy, on 27 October 1947, and graduated from Florence University ( University of Florence) with BSc. in Geological Sciences in 1975, after presenting a thesis entitled "Shetlands: an anthropo-geographic profile". In the 70s and 80s, he works for nautical and geography magazines, reporting from foreign countries, most often in the circumpolar area (Canada, Greenland, Shetlands, Lofoten, Iceland and Finland). During this period, he teaches photography at public and private schools, and kept a page on Story and Critique of Photography, in an Art magazine. In 1972 he starts to collaborate on the Special Program for Soil Conservation / Special Program for Soil Conservation , from the CNR (National Research Council ( National Research Council ), and participates of the two-week "Seminar on coastal regime and conservation "/ Workshop on regime and the Preservation of Coastlines (Venice, October 1973) led by an international staff and marking the beginning of nationally coordinated research projects on coastal dynamics in Italy. He then collaborates on the" Coastal regime and dynamics "government project ( Finalized Project ) until such research themes finally became the subject of many projects of national interest in Italy (the so-calledProjects of National Interest MURST .). Between 1976 and 1978, he also collaborates on the CNR special project on "Oceanography and the Sea Bottom", participating in two oceanographic research cruises. In 1978, he won a fellowship from CNR, within their "Coastal Dynamics" project. In 1980, he attended a course on "Remote Sensing in Meteorology, Oceanography and Hydrology" at the University of Dundee, Scotland, and in 1981 on a course on Remote Sensing for Land Use Inventories at the EU Joint Research Center of Ispra . In 1981 he wins the selection for "Confirmed Researcher" ( Assistant Professor ) at the University of Florence. In 1987, he went to Ethiopia, as a Remote Sensing Expert for the United Nations (UNPD), with the scope of developing a Remote Sensing Center. In 1987 he wins the selection for Associate Professor ( Associate Professor ), and Becomes holder of the chair of Geography at the University of Florence (Within the B.Sc. Geological Sciences / Graduate in Sc. Geology ). He starts teaching Physical Geography within the B.Sc. Geological Sciences course and Geography within the BSc. Natural Sciences course. In the next few years, he is invited by the University of Siena to teach the course on Physical Geography at the Faculty of Science, as well as the module on Remote Sensing for the "Operator of Cultural Goods" diploma course at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. In 2000 he wins the selection for the position of Full Professor ( Professor of the First Role range ) by the University of Siena. In November 2000 he is invited to teach as an Extraordinary Professor ( Professor ) by the University of Florence, where he is later declared Ordinary Professor ( full professor ) in 2004.
