Biography
He graduated in Biology at the University of Florence in 1971. He specializes in Hygiene and Public Health at the University of Pisa in 1978. Holds the position of assistant professor from 1980 to 2000. He has done his research activities at the Institute of Hygiene, then Department of Hygiene and Public Health. Since 2000 he is Associate Professor of Hygiene at the Faculty of Mathematics, Phisical and Natural Sciences of the University of Florence, where he teaches Hygiene in the Master of Biology. Currently attending the Department of Health Sciences, Section of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Was a holder of private and public grants (MIUR, Pistoia district) for various research including: xenobiotic pollutants, enterobacteria water pollution, epidemiology of chronic diseases, health risks from environmental pollutants and metals (barium, chromium, arsenic, etc).

Prevalent research areas: environmental pollutants and xenobiotics helth risks; epidemiology of infectious diseases; epidemiology of chronic diseases; genotoxic tests; microbiological indicators of faecal contamination of waters and foods
