Research Interest

Since 1987 he has been an intern in internal and internal physician, and has been involved in clinical research in the field of cardiovascular physiological and pathological aging, focusing in particular on the problems of the elderly with myocardial infarction. He specifically addressed the issues of the efficacy of "intensive" treatment in the geriatric patient with acute cardiovascular disease, including mechanical circulatory support by intra-aortic contropulsion (IABP), external electrical cardioversion of hyper-kinetic hyperthermia arrhythmias and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He also actively participated in epidemiological studies in the geriatric field. Since 1993 she has also dedicated to molecular and cellular biology, with an interest in cardiovascular aging and, in particular, in the study of angiogenesis and biology of growth factors, with the aim of transferring new therapeutic forms of cancer therapeutic (anti-angiogenetic) of ischemic cardiovascular disease (pro-angiogenetic). It was also involved in the study of the aging of the endothelial cell and the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in degenerative aging disorders. Interleukin (IL) -1 alpha cytokine and its regulatory mechanisms, and thrombin receptors (PAR1 and PAR2), are included in this field. with the aim of transferring new therapeutic forms of cancer therapy (anti-angiogenetic) to the clinical field as well as in the field of ischemic (pro-angiogenetic) cardiovascular diseases. In recent years, it has investigated tumor pathology in terms of the involvement of growth factors and pro-angiogenesis in the evolution of tumors, as well as in the study of Notch receptors and their oncogenic function.
