Research Interest

The research activity carried out in recent years mainly concerned, though not exclusively, the Textuberlieferung of Plutarch Morals and the ethical-philosophical thought of Cheronea's intellectual. The main purpose was the publication of a new critical edition with extensive introduction, translation and commentary on Peri; tuvchı of Plutarch, based on a systematic reconnection of all witnesses of the manuscript tradition useful to the textus constitution , including the two Moscow codes which are the basis of the reviewplanudea. In spite of the great editorial work carried out in the twentieth century, the apparatus of the critical editions, including that of the Teubner edition, from which all the others depend, is far from reliable, given the high number of errors they present, some of which also glossy and pedissequely handed down from one edition to the other. Through a recollection of all the useful witnesses of De Fortuna's traditionthe Greek text has been laid down with its critical apparatus, with the aim of making mistakes and inaccuracies present in modern editions. The Greek text is accompanied by a translation into the Italian side. The critical edition is accompanied by an introduction devoted to the manuscript tradition, the history of the notion of tuvch in its historical development and the interpretation of the script, which over the centuries has been subjected to opposing evaluations and interpretations by scholars who they have now judged it as philosophical, now not different from the principles of Aristotelian ethics. The Greek text and the Italian translation follow a broad commentary, which addresses all the textual, philological, historical-philosophical problems related to the interpretation of the script.history of a name , cit.), with which the Cheronea intellectual argues, and study the value and role played by the notion of tuvch within Moralia and the Vitae (see F. Becchi, The notion oftuvch in Plutarch , cit.), but also and above all place this plutarcheo booklet within the Moralia and link it with works of other intellectuals more or less coyote to Plutarch, such as, for example,Alexander of Afrodisia, committed to defending the same values from the attacks of modern schools of thought. Some of the results achieved have been the subject of communications held at Plutarch's International Conferences.
