Biography

Degree in Physics with honors and praise the 15/07/1994 at the University of Florence. PhD in Physics (X cycle) at the University of Florence on 24/04/1998. Research grant from the Department of Physics of Florence (from 03/01/1999 to 03/01/2002). visiting scientist at the Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik (from 09/01/1998 to 30/06/2000). Associate Professor for the FIS / 03 Field Physics from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Catania from 1/11/2002 to 31/10/2007. Associate Professor for the FIS / 03 Field Physics from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence from 1/11/2007

Research Interest

His research activity was mainly experimental and took place between the European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy (LENS), the University of Florence, the Garching (Germany) and the Laboratory of Quantum Information at the Max-Planck Institute for Quantal Optics (MPQ) University of Catania. The activity is concerned with the physics of atoms and their interactions with the laser radiation. It can be framed into strands that, starting from patterns of laser-atom nonlinear interaction, develop in the manipulation of atomic motion, laser cooling and realization of Bose-Einstein condensates.
