Biography
Education Degree in Medicine and Surgery (cum laude, 1984); Specialization in Infectious Diseases (with praise, 1988). Academic positions Researcher (since 1991), Professor II Band (since 1998) and Professor I Band (since 2001) of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology (SSD MED / 07) at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery University of Siena (UNISI). From November 1, 2012 to the Convention (70% ex 6, 11, 240/2010) with the University of Florence (UNIFI). Since 1 November 2016, Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at UNIFI, Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine. Academic Affairs at UNISI: Director of the Department of Molecular Biology (2001-2007), Chair of the Teaching Committee of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery (2004-2009), President of the University Patent Commission (2006-2009), Head of the Faculty (2009-2012), Director of Administration (2013 - 2016), Coordinator of the Siena branch of the School of Specialization in Microbiology and Virology (2011 - 2016). At UNIFI: President of the Degree Course in Health Care in Florence (2016). Scientific activity Main fields of interest: antimicrobial agents, bacterial chemistry resistance, molecular epidemiology and bacterial resistance monitoring, microbiological diagnostics, microbial biotechnologies. Author of over 370 published scientific publications on PubMed); h-index (Scopus), 63; number of citations (Scopus)> 13,000. Inventor of 11 patents.
