Place and date of birth:                       Florence, June 9, 1947. Qualification:                                    Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pisa, in 1971, with 110 e lode vote. Professional Enablement:                   Enable to Engage in Engineer Profession, 1971. Activities:             1972-73 Military service as Technical Officer in the Italian Military Air Force, responsible for the assistance and supervision of telecommunications and air traffic control equipment.             1973-75 Alle Officine Galileo, Florence, responsible for the analysis and design of systems and control circuits for space applications (GEOS satellites, OTS, SIRIO).             1975-78 Research scholarship at the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Florence, in the field of telecommunications and the numerical processing of signals.             1978-86 Associate Professor and Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Florence (Faculty of Engineering) with the teaching of Radioactive Aids for Navigation and Telecommunication Networks.             1986- Ordinary Professor of Digital Signal Processing at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence, Department of Information Engineering, and Head of the Laboratory of Signal Processing and Communications (LESC) of the Department.             1990-93 Director of the Direct School at Special Fines for Senior Technical Technician at the University of Florence.             1994-2004 President of the Degree Course in Telecommunications Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence.             2001-2004 Member of the Board of Directors and of the National Telecommunications Interuniversity Consortium (CNIT) Council.             2005-2008 Director of the National Interuniversity Telecommunications Consortium (CNIT).             2008-2011 Vice-President of the Scientific Council of the Interuniversity for Telecommunications National Consortium (CNIT).             2011-2017 President of the Interuniversity for Telecommunications National Consortium (CNIT)             2013-2016 Director of the Department of Information Engineering (DINFO), University of Florence             2013- Nominated by the Minister of MIUR Expert in the Horizon 2020 Program Committee for the "Information and Communication Technologies"
