Biography

Ordinary Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature. He graduated from the University of Florence in 1975 and attended postgraduate courses at the Jewish University of Jerusalem. At the University of Florence he was Professor in Biblical Philology from 1978 to 1984; Associate Professor of Biblical Philology from 1984 to 1997; associate professor of Hebrew Language and Literature from 1997 to 2001; He is an ordinary professor of Hebrew Language and Literature since 1.11.2004. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Research, Transfer and Higher Education Center "Historical and Theoretical Language Center: Italian, European Languages, Oriental Languages ​​- CLIEO. He is a member of the College of Teachers of the PhD in the Philological and Historical Sciences of the Near East and of the one in the Languages ​​and Cultures of the Mediterranean. He has conducted several research missions at the Jewish University of Jerusalem under the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between CNR (Italy) and NCRD (Israel). He was a visiting scholar at the Jewish University of Jerusalem, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York and the University of Cambridge. He has presented reports to international congresses and specialized symposia. He has lectured in various Italian and foreign Universities. He has organized Jewish study conferences and Jewish code exhibitions. His research activity is mainly based on biblical and Hebrew linguistics. He developed a particular method of analyzing the semantics of ancient Hebrew.

Research Interest

He also conducts research in the field of biblical hermeneutics and Jewish codicology. He worked on issues related to Renaissance Judaism with special attention to hermetic texts.
