Biography

Prof. Luca Bandettini graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1973 at the end of the sixth year.  He has achieved the following Specializations:  1) Digestive Plant and Digestive Endoscopy Surgery  2) General Surgery  3) Urology  In 1980 he was confirmed researcher, in 1991 professor's winner for general surgery teaching. Lecturer at the School of Specialization in Digestive Surgery and Digestive Endoscopy and in the School of Specialization in Occupational Medicine. ADE course organizer (elective teaching activities) "Practical theoretical course of surgical endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery of the digestive system" at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Florence SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY The scientific activity carried out by Prof. Bandettini is documented by the rich experimental and clinical production and by the presentation of communications on research carried out also within the International Symposium. Immediately after graduating in order to deepen his cultural preparation, he participated in the "Vascular Experimental Microsurgery Course" in Milan in 1974 and in 1976 in Milan at the "Microchirugia Workshop". He has been particularly devoted to experimental studies of Acute Pancreatitis Patogenesis and the study of its metabolic implications. On this subject he made numerous submissions to the Italian Society of Surgery and the Research Society in Surgery, and on this subject he was the Speaker of the "Meeting on Acute Experimental Pancreatitis" held in Florence in 1979 and at Erice in 1978 at the Accademia of the Medical Sciences of Palermo, at the Meeting "Progress and Innovation of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques in Digestive Plant Surgery". Recently, the results he has obtained have been resumed and confirmed by foreign researchers. In addition to continuing his studies on Acute Experimental Pancreatitis, especially regarding the effect of PgI2 on pancreatic damage on which the subject presented a communication to the Congress on Current and Prospective Pathological Intensive Therapy held in Florence on 28 February 1980, he was a Correlator at the 82nd Congress of the Italian Society of Surgery on the topic: "Progressive Peritoneal Pneumon in Treating Large Laparocells". Subsequently his studies have been directed in the field of the Oncology, both experimental and clinical. He experimentally experimented with the hypertemic perfusion of the "lively" liver, on antiblastic infusion chemotherapy in the treatment of limbs of the limbs, hepatic hepatic chemotherapy and recently hyperpermic hyperblastic intraperitoneal antiblastic perfusion. The results obtained are all documented by numerous communications to National and International Congresses. Always experimentally, but also with clinical perspectives, he has been involved in the use of Hp-D Fluorescence in diagnosis and oncological therapy. All the research you have always earned is funded by MURST (60%). The clinical interest of Prof. Bandettini has also addressed the prevention of colorectal cancer and anal canal. These topics were also the subject of publications and communications. He also performed biological studies on colorectal mucosa in the presence of neoplasia. Studies were particularly focused on Lynch Syndrome patients, presenting a follow-up protocol to the Toscana-Liguria SIED (1995) interregional conference. Always with regard to the colorectal mucosa was concerned with the histogenesis and the biological significance of small polyps to identify potentially neoplastic ones. He also collaborated with SIED Toscana to draft the follow-up protocol of patients carrying colorectal polyps that was presented and accepted in Prato 1995 at the SIED Regional Congress. Even as far as colorectal cancer is concerned, it has been actively involved since 1998 in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic protocols of the AOC Department of Oncology. His studies in the field of colorectal pathology have focused not only on the physiopathologic and clinical aspects, but also on the surgical technique with specific reference to the use of new methods made available by technology and in particular the use of the BAR (Ivrea 1996) in the anastomoses of the digestive tract.

Research Interest

1. Right tumor radiotherapy (proponent Prof. Cionini) - Oncology finalized project - CNR  2. Poliamine in tumors and patients during radiotherapy (proponent Prof. Becciolini)  3. Italian Society of Surgery  2. ISSE (Italian Society of Surgical Endoscopy)
