Research Interest
His research is mainly concerned with classical, quantum and stochastic transport phenomena, with particular emphasis on applications to optical and electronic devices. He is the author of over 50 publications in international scientific journals and several invited communications at national and international conferences. He is a diary of research projects funded by the University of Florence and the National Institute for Advanced Mathematics (INdAM-GNFM), and has participated in several research projects of national interest founded by the Ministry (PRIN). He organized schools and conferences on transport theory, kinetic theory and quantum mechanics. He has been visiting researcher and visiting professor in several european universities, where he held seminars and advanced lectures. He has been the advisor of 5 PhD thesis in mathematics. He regularly performs refereeing activity for several international scientific journals and institutions. He is a member of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI), the Italian Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIMAI) and of the National Group for Mathematical Physics (GNFM-INdAM). Teaching activity He has been lecturer in mathematical physics, dynamics systems, probability and statistics, and general mathematics, in various degree programs at the University of Florence. Currently teaches equations of mathematical physics and mathematical methods for applications , to undergraduate students in mathematics. He has been supervisor of several undergraduate theses in mathematics. He held courses for the PhD in mathematics at the University of Florence and advanced courses organized by universities abroad. Institutional activities Serves on the board of the School of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, of which he is also the delegate for disability issues. He is a member of the restricted commissions of the Deaprtment and of the commettee teaching. He is a member of various committees of the degree programs in mathematics (thesis, joint teachers-students commttee, degree programs, stages). He has been a member of the Academic Board of the PhD in Mathematics.
