Study of surgical diseases of the digestive system with particular regard to the role, indications and results of surgical therapy in Crohn's disease, participating in both the development and conducting of national and international clinical trials; - clinical and experimental studies on gastro-esophageal and duodenal gastric reflux with particular reference to the problem of neoplastic risk in the gastro-resected patient and the role of nitric oxide in reflux gastritis; - anatomic-clinical-prognostic study of colorectal and rectal carcinomas and subsequently, in the context of colonic carcinogenesis, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacology of Florence and IST (Institute of Tumor Research) of Genoa, preneoplastic lesions such as ACF (aberrant crypt foci); - angiogenesis studies after experimental myocardial infarction in rat and rabbit; - experimental studies on environmental carcinogenicity; - Study of the molecular mechanisms involved in acute hepatic injury induced experimentally
