Biography
Graduated with praise in Biological Sciences in Bologna after attending a five-year undergraduate degree with biomolecular examination, he received his PhD in Anthropological Sciences at the University of Florence in 2004 with a thesis titled "Genetic Analysis of Neolithic Objects Italians "(supervisor Prof. Brunetto Chiarelli). From 2004 to 2011 he was the holder of research grants at the Department of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Florence where he was involved in the genetic characterization of ancient finds through molecular anthropology techniques and sequencing targeted through oligo-based capture and Next Genereation Sequencing in ancient finds related to the genus Homo (responsible David Caramelli). He is currently a fixed-term researcher (Law 240/2010) in SSD BIO / 08 - Anthropology at the Department of Biology at the University of Florence where he is engaged in research in the field of molecular anthropology and paleogenesis.
Research Interest
The subject of his research activity mainly concerns the study of human evolution, the analysis of the biological structure and evolution of human pastures and the reconstruction of the processes of domestication of animals and plants. The experimental activity carried out in these years has enabled it to gain a great deal of experience in the application and development of DNA extraction and molecular characterization technologies extracted from ancient and degraded samples of various origins and nature (human, animal, vegetables, bones, teeth, hair, seeds).
