Massimo Gurioli

Biography

Massimo Gurioli is Associate Professor of Physics of Matter at the Faculty of Science of the University of Florence-Italy. Born 8th of May 1960, he received his master's degree in Physics in 1985 at the University of Florence. From 1990 to 1993 he was a permanent staff of the "European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopes" (LENS: European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy). He was the Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Marcello Colocci. ) in Florence. In the years 1993 to 1998 he was Researcher at the University of Florence (Italy). In 1998 he became an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science of the University of Milan Bicocca and in 2002 became an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science of the University of Florence. From 2006 Manager of the University of Florence in the National Consortium for Matter Physics (CNISM) From 2006 to 2011 Director of the CNISM Research Unity of Florence. Coordinator and or partner of national and international projects including FP6 and FP7 network of excellence. He is also in the scientific staff of the "European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy" (Lens: European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy) in Florence.

Research Interest

His main research interests have been focused on the optical properties and excitation recombination dynamics in semiconductor low dimensional systems and nanophotonic structures. In recent years, the central topic of his research has been the investigation of the near field and far field properties of photonic crystals microcavities, also in collaboration with leading national and international groups in the field. He has received several research grants and has presented more than 30 invited talks or colloquia. He has published more than 200 articles on high quality journal, with more than 2200 citations and a H-Factor of 25.
