Biography
Born in Florence in 1947. Degree in Physics at the University of Florence with "summa cum laude" in 1969. Assistant Professor since 1971, Associate Professor since 1982. Scientific activity: Study of analogue transitions in isobaric multiplets in the region of nuclei below mass 40: lifetime measurements with electronic techniques and with the Doppler shift attenuation method, angular correlation measurements, mixing ratio determination. Shell model calculations have been performed with codes developed in the jj coupling scheme and in the second quantization "m" scheme. Search for parity violation in nuclei: circular polarization measurement of 1081 keV gamma ray in 18F, parity mixing calculation. Study of heavy ions peripheral reactions in various foreign and Italian labs (Lawrence Berkeley Lab, GSI Darmstadt, Ganil Caen), LNS in Catania and LNL in Legnaro: Angular correlation measurements between light particles and projectile-like fragments in reactions of light ions on heavy targets; two-body and three-body coincidence measurements in deeply inelastic collisions of heavy nuclei at 20 and 25 AMeV energies. Charged particle detection at energies ranging from 20 to 40 AMeV with a large solid angle apparatus: study of light charged particles and intermediate mass fragment production at Fermi energies. Study of the isotopic ratios of light particles emitted in central reactions from 100 to 400 AMeV: development of large volume telescopes to be coupled with the large solid angle detector (FOPI) at SIS / ESR of GSI. Development of digitalization techniques and digital filters for processing nuclear detector signals.
