Biography
Pierangelo Geppetti (PG) is a professor of clinical pharmacology at the Medical School of the University of Florence, Director of the Department of Health Sciences of the University of Florence and Director of the Clinical Unit of Headache Center and Clinical Pharmacology of the University Hospital of Careggi, Florence. PG is editor of Physiological Reviews, Pain, Molecular Pain, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, Cough and Molecular Pain, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, Journal of Molecular Pain and Pain, and editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology. PG is a member of the Board of the Italian Association for the Study of Pain and of the Italian Society for the Study of Headaches. PG's scientific activity has focused on primary sensory neurons and neurogenic mechanisms of inflammation in migraine and other types of pain. Major topics of PG's research activity have been the neurochemistry of pain transmission, peptidergic and protease receptors and more recent transient receptor potential (TRP) channels in nociceptive neurons. Clinical investigation has been dedicated to trials in pain disorders and pain treatment. PG has authored 298 articles in peer-reviewed journals (PubMed) with an HI of 56 (ISI) and total citations 11,450 (ISI).

Major topics of PG's research activity have been the neurochemistry of pain transmission, peptidergic and protease receptors and more recent transient receptor potential (TRP) channels in nociceptive neurons.
