Biography
Sara Boccalini graduated in Biological Sciences in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences of the University of Florence with a 110/110 vote, in 2000 with a degree thesis titled "Analysis microbiological examination of the degree of adoption of the self-control plans in the collective catering of the Piombino-Isola d'Elba district: a comparison between catering and commercial catering ". She has been researcher in the 2003-2005 period for the project "Monitoring of viral hepatitis preventable by vaccine" at the Department of Public Health, University of Florence. In the period 2006-2008 he held the PhD in Clinical and Preventive Pediatrics at the Department of Public Health, University of Florence, entitled: "Economic evaluation of anti-varicella vaccination in children and adolescents in Italy according to different strategies of intervention: the weight of uncomplicated hospitalized cases ". She received her Ph.D. degree on 16/01/2009.
Research Interest
The scientific activity of Sara Boccalini mainly concerns epidemiology and the prevention of infectious diseases, with particular reference to viral hepatitis, pertussis, varicella, measles, mumps, rubella, influenza, HPV, infections by N. meningitidis and S. pneumoniae. In particular, it surveys the impact of vaccination programs on the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable infectious diseases.
