Biography

Simone Magherini was born in Florence on September 7, 1964. He graduated in 1990, discussing a thesis on the Lyrical Fragments of Clement Rebora (proffesional speakers Lanfranco Caretti, Adele Dei and Gino Tellini). He won in February 1991 one of the five "Palazzeschi" prizes, banned by the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Florence for his degree thesis, especially deserving, devoted to the "study of our literature and our language". Since 1992 he has been researching at the Italian Department of Italian Studies. In 1998 he earned the title of Doctor of Science in Italian Studies at the University of Florence with a thesis on  Investigations and Papers on Palazzeschi poet 1905-1930  (commission composed by Prof. Guido Baldassarri, Franco Contorbia and Arnaldo Di Benedetto).  Since 2004 he has been an Italian Literature Researcher at the Department of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Florence.

Research Interest

He focusses in particular on the nineteenth / twentieth-century literary culture and the protagonists of the historical avant-garde through studying archives, publishing correspondence, examining sources, and talking about how Dante and Leopardi's influence is felt in twentieth-century poetry. He has presented numerous documentary exhibitions devoted to Aldo Palazzeschi at conventions and study days, as well as an audiovisual production of interviews taken from the Rai Teche archive. He also conducts research on the scientific prose of Francesco Redi and the work of Niccolò Tommaseo, especially his political texts, poems and correspondence with Gino Capponi. Another area of ​​interest is the cultural,
