Biography
Born in Massa Marittima (GR), 22/07/1969. Graduated in Mathematics with Honors at the University of Florence. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics of Computation, University of Padua, Italy in 1998. She was Assistant Professor in Numerical Analysis at the University of Florence (1999-2011) and she is currently Associate Professor (since 2011). Since 1999 she has been teaching Numerical Analysis and Numerical Optimization courses in both Science and Engineering schools. She is the author of about 35 papers on international journals concerning numerical methods for continuous optimization problems, benchmarking with existing algorithms and software development. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Applied Numerical Mathematics, Elsevier since 2005 and is a reviewer for top international journals in numerical analysis and optimization.
Research Interest
Research activity includes: - Newton-like and Interior Point methods for nonlinear optimization problems - Linear algebra phase in second order optimization procedures and development of preconditioning techniques for the resulting linear systems. -Ill posed nonlinear least-squares problems.
