Biography
Born in Florence on October 5, 1953. 1976, Degree in Biological Sciences (110/110 and praise). 1977, Fortran IV computer language course (CNUCE, Pisa, final exam passed with the highest marks 1978, winner of the CNR scholarship at the Center for the Study of Fauna and Tropical Ecology (CNR, Florence) 1980, Researcher Confirmed at the current Department of Biology, 2000, invited by the MFN Faculty of Science (University of Florence) as Associate Professor of Zoology. Coordinator of PhD in Biology (University of Florence); He was member of the Ph.D. in Ethology and Animal Ecology (University of Florence, XVI cycle), chair of the Ph.D. in Psychobiology and Psychopharmacology (Uni Rome I, XVIII cycle) and PhD in Biology (Univ Fi ) XXX cycle. He was delegated to the MFN (University of Florence) Faculty of Science for postgraduate training courses (until 2008). Member of the Faculty Commission for the award of supplementary contracts. Member of the Library of Science Library (since 2005). He is a representative of the University of Florence (rector delegate) at the Board of Directors of the Interuniversity Center for Marine Biology (Livorno) (since 2006) and member of the Scientific Council of CoNISMa (since 2010). He is the representative of the University of Florence at the Scientific Council of the Osservatorio Oscano Cetacie and Tartarughe (OTC) (Up to 2015). Since 2014, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Zoological Union. He has been a professor of Zoology II (Biological Sciences, Old Methods), Animal Filogenesis, Animal Ecophysis, Animal Biodiversity, General Zoology (Faunist Sci.), And a professor in Ecology applied to aquatic ecosystems. She currently holds the following courses: Orientation and Migrations (Sci. Biol.); Marine Biology (Sci. Biol.); Zoology II (Sci. Nat.). He is a lecturer in the international master Tropimundo. He participated actively in the activities of the Department by performing various internal assignments: eg. Member of the Board of Directors, the Commission of the Library, the Commission for the allocation of funds for teaching (several times coordinator), the Commission for the allocation of local research funds (ex-60%). From 1988 to 2002 he was a member of the Center for Study of the Fauna and Tropical Ecology of the CNR, Florence, as a part time researcher. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Interuniversity Center for Marine Biology in Livorno (CIBM). Since 1996 she has been Associate Editor of the international journal ETHOLOGY ECOLOGY AND EVOLUTION. Since 2015 she is Editor in Chief of the same magazine He is author of more than 150 scientific publications. Research lines: ETO-ECOLOGICAL with incursions in the SYSTEM-ZOOGEOGRAPHIC field. This second group includes a study on Somali malacophalla and a work in which, using some aspects of larval behavior, the phylogenetic distance between various scorpion families is checked. In collaboration with Prof. S. Ruffo he examined the phylogeny of the Mediterranean talitrides. Wild fauna in Kenya (entomological fauna) and along the coasts of high Tyrrhenian (anfipodological fauna). The work of the etho-ecological group is the main scientific production: 1) study of ecology and parental care of the aracnids; 2) Study of mechanisms and motivations in the recovery of an ecologically relevant goal. From this second point there are two other lines of research: a markedly etho-physiological character deals with the relationship between perception and use of orienting factors and sensitivity reception, as well as the operation of the solar and moon compass mechanism and their Relationships with the magnetic compass; The other deals with the biology and ecology of living arthropods in ecotonic environments and seeks to examine the relationship between some biological and environmental characteristics and spatial orientation mechanisms. He has been invited for collaborations and conferences from numerous Italian and foreign universities (Pisa, Parma, Siena, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Tel Aviv, Geneva). He has participated in numerous research missions in European and non-European countries (France, England, Somalia, Kenya, Gabon, Israel, Finland).
