Biography
Cinzia Talamonti received a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Perugia, Italy in 1991. In 1995 she received her PhD discussing a thesis on experimental high energy physics. In 2002 she became a specialist in Medical Physics. From 1995 to 1997 Dr. Talamonti was a research fellow in physics at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK. At the end of 1997 she joined the University of Florence as a technical researcher until 2004 and from January 2005 she is currently a Physics Researcher at the Medical Faculty of the University of Florence. In the course "Radiological Instrumentation and Medical Imaging" TRMIR, She teaches "physics and physics applied to radiotherapy". The Health Service at the Medical Physics Unit - AOU Careggi Florence started in 1999 and focuses on Conformal, stereotactic, intensity modulated and advanced rotational treatment techniques. Dr. Talamonti is the author of over 40 peer-reviewed publications and she was a local referee of some European Project. The research activity started since 1990 in the field of high energy physics, in 1998 its fields of research interest include the following medical physics fields: dosimetric characterization of portal imaging systems, silicon and CVD diamond dosimeter, Imaging with charged particles.
