Biography
Flavia Varano received the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 1995, and the PhD in Chemistry of Medicine in 1999. Both of these degrees were obtained at the University of Florence. Since 2000, Dr. Varano has been a researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Florence and is conducting research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. His research focused first on the study and identification of central site benzodiazepine site ligands, and recently the development of both adenosine and glutamate receptor antagonists, which may represent new potential therapeutic agents for the treatment of many neurodegenerative diseases .
