Biography

Dr. RICCARDO MARZOCCHINI is a confirmed researcher at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Florence. Born in 1956 in Empoli (Florence). 1985: Graduation in Biological Sciences, with the experimental thesis titled: "Studies on the conformation of acylphosphatase 1985-1986 is at the Department of Biochemical Sciences, purifying the proteins of Acylphosphatase from various animal tissues 1987: He attended II The course "Use of Molecular Genetics in Human Genetics:" held by Prof. G. Romeo at the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at G. Gaslini Hospital in Genoa. In the same year he was involved in synthesis in vitro, starting from a a collection of oligonucleotides, the synthetic gene for an enzyme initially called "Low Phosphatyrosine Protein Phosphatase (LMW-PTP)" Low Phosphotyrosine-Protein Phosphatase (LMW-PTP) Low Phosphatase Low Phosphatase Phosphatase "for its proven phospho-tyrosine activity. He was then busy with his expression in E. Coli and his site specific mutagenesis. 1991: he went to the US at the laboratory of Dr. Eduardo G. Lapetina Cell Biology Department of Burroughs Wellecome Co., North Carolina, an international expert in signal transduction. It studied signal transmission in eukaryotic cells, cellular response to various agents with known stimulant activity such as erythropoietin, translocation from cytoplasm to cellular protein membrane membrane of specific proteins (Rap1a and Rap1b). 1992-97, he worked on the cloning of cDNAs for the two human isoenzymes of the LMW-PTP called IF1 and IF2 then made express in bacterial and eukaryotic cells. The cloning and expression of the synthetic gene for the enzyme "Human Muscle Muscle Acylphosphatase (MT)". And the cloning of the natural type of erythrocytes called CT (Common Type). 1997: cloning of the LMW-PTP form called SV3 (splicing variant) followed by screening of a phage cDNA library. Since 2001 he has been engaged in scientific research and didactic activities at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Florence, SSD BIO / 10 (Biochemistry) as a confirmed researcher. He now studies the different expression of the three isoforms of LMW-PTP and Acilfosfatasi MT and CT in healthy and tumorous tissues. In particular, LMW-PTPs could be involved in the transformation of cancer by defining LMW-PTP as a possible oncogene in various tumor types (breast, neuroblastoma, colon) and also involving the regulation or mutation of its gene.
