Biography
Associate Professor in Applied Geology (GEO / 05), with specific skills in rock, geomechanics and natural hazards. I graduated in Geological Sciences in 1999, I obtained a doctorate in Earth Sciences in 2003 and obtained a position as a Researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2007. Interested in studying the relationships between geological structure, hydro-mechanical behavior of rocks and rock masses, and slope instability mechanisms in different geological contexts and various spatial and temporal scales. For this purpose, there are good study approaches to applied geology, geology, geomorphology and rock mechanics using remote techniques and remote monitoring (TLS, photogrammetry, GB-InSAR), laboratory and numerical modeling.participated in national and international funded research projects, including: INTERREG IIC "Falaises"; FIRB2001 "Multidisciplinary approach to the assessment of the danger of rocky landslides"; PRIN2003 "Catastrophic disasters: study of kinematics and dynamics of slopes by using analogue and numerical models for risk assessment"; ASI "MORFEO - MOnitoring and Risk from Frana through EO data"; EU-FP5 "DAMOCLES - Debrisfall Assessment in MOuntain Catchments for Local End-Users"; EU-PF6 "LESSLOSS - Risk Mitigation for Earthquakes and Landslides"; EU-FP7 "SAFELAND - Living with landslide risk in Europe: Assessment, Effects of Global Change and Risk Management Strategies"; MASSMOVE: "Minimal standards for compilation of hazard maps such as landslides and rock falls as a tool for disaster prevention"; PRIN 2010-11 "Space-time forecast of high-impact landslide phenomenon in the context of rainfall changes". I was PI of the UNIMB-FA 2013 project "Structural and geomechanical characterization of polidformed rocks using remote techniques and 2D / 3D modeling".
Research Interest
1) rock slope instability (characterization, monitoring, modeling, Early Warning) 2) mechanisms and long-term evolution of slow rock slope deformation 3) geomechanical properties of fractured media 4) experimental rock deformation 5) landslide hazard and risk analysis
