Biography
GRASSO Donato Antonio is associate professor at Department of Chemical Science, Environmental and Food Sustanibility.1985 Scientific Maturity 1990 Degree in Biological Sciences 1994 Doctoral Program in Ethology 1996-1998 Post-Doc in Fundamental Biological Sciences Since 1999 Researcher at the Faculty of Science MM.FF.NN, University of Parma.
Research Interest
ecology and sociobiology of social insects (Hymenoptera, Formicides). In particular, my research (conducted both in nature and in the laboratory) is aimed at investigating: - the strategies and mechanisms of communication; - reproductive behavior; - the competition between colonies for the exploitation of resources; - various phenomena of social parasitism; - surveys on filogenesis, social structure and dispersion strategies of Messor-type herds; - use of ants as bioindicators for the measurement of environmental quality in highly impacted ecosystems such as agricultural ones
