Biography
Stan Beaubien (BSc Hons in Geological Sciences, MSc in Earth Sciences, PhD in Environmental Sciences) joined the Fluid Chemistry Laboratory of the Department of Earth Sciences of University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1996, conducting research on gas and water geochemistry, site monitoring, and technology development, with particular regard to the geological storage of CO2. In particular, he has specialized in the study of natural sites where geologically produced carbon dioxide is migrating through the subsurface and leaking to the atmosphere, using these sites to better understand potential safety, risk, impact, and monitoring issues related to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). Thanks to involvement in 9 EC funded projects focused on various aspects of CCS, he has a wide knowledge and experience in multi-disciplinary studies, including research involving geophysics, remote sensing, biology, oceanography, structural geology, and engineering.
