Biography
Stefano Di Stefano was born in Rome in 1972. He is a graduate (magna cum laude) of Università di Roma La Sapienza and received his PhD in 2000 with Professor L. Mandolini (PhD thesis: Supramolecular Catalysts for Amide and Ester Cleavage). After a short period in the industry he came back to university where he has worked as a postdoctoral fellow. He is researcher of organic chemistry since march 2007. During his academic carreer he spent research periods in the laboratories of Prof. J. de Mendoza of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain) and of Prof. U. Luening of Albrecht Christian Universität of Kiel (Germany). His research interests are generally oriented in the field of supramolecular chemistry and in particular focused on the synthesis and development of supramolecular catalysts and on the understanding of their mechanism of action. His current studies involve the development of dynamic chemical systems under thermodynamic control for applications in the field of combinatorial supramolecular chemistry. He has open collaboration with Prof. Ercolani (Tor Vergata, Rome), Prof. Casnati and his group (Parma), Prof. Mejier (Eindhoven), Prof. Hunter (Cambridge), Prof. Costas (Girona). He received the Prize for "EXCELLENT UNIVERSITY TEACHING" given by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical Physical and Natural Science for the teaching of Physical Organic Chemistry.
