Biography

"Graduated in Geological Sciences with specializati on in Engineering Geology in 1998, titular of an ENEA fellowship in 2000, Ph.D. in Engineering Geology in 2002, titular of MIUR fellowships at the University of Rome “Sapienza” Department of Ea rth Sciences from 2002 until 2006, Researcher at the University of Rome “Sapienza” since 2007 (D epartment of Earth Sciences and Research Centre for Geological Risks - CERI). Since 1999 he is co-i nvestigator for national and international research projects: 1999-2002, Linea2-GNDT Italian project (resp. Prof. G. Valentini) on landslide processes in central-southern Italy; 2003-2004, COFIN2003 Italian project (resp. Prof. A. Prestininzi) on catastrophic landslides: study of mechanisms by analogical and numerical modeling; 2005-2006, PRIN2005 Italian project (prof. G. Scarascia Mugnozza) on seismica lly-induced hazard: analysis and numerical modeling of seismically induced landslides; 2006-2007, PRIN2006 Italian project (resp. Prof. F. Bozzano) on landslide processes in coastal areas; 2010 (in progress), SERIES European Project (resp. Prof. G. Scarascia Mugnozza) on Experimental and Numerical Investigations of Nonlinearity in soils using Advanced Laboratory-Scaled models (ENINALS). Since 2008 is co- ordinator of the research agreement between the CERI and the French institute of sciences and technology for transport, development and networks (IFSTTAR - Paris, France). He is co- investigator in the PRIN2009 Italian project (resp. Prof.ssa F. Bozzano). Since 2004 he participated to consulting groups for Italian Agencies (ACEA, ISPESL, ANAS, TERNA) and Private Societies (SaRC S.p.A., P&M – Planning and Management, Impregilo Group, Eurolink) on geotechnical topics applied to slope stability analysis, foundations, mine areas, aqueducts and pipeline systems, highways, tunneling. Since 2000 he participated to studies of local seismic response and seismic microzonation in many Municipalities of central Italy. He co-o perated for the Italian Ci vil Protection National Service in some recent emergencies: 31st Octo ber 2002 Molise earthquake (induced ground effects), 6th April 2009 L’Aquila earthquake (seismic microzonation study of the Roio basin). He’s part of a technical working group of the Italian Civil Protection National Service for studies of seismic microzonation. He is co-author of 34 pape rs on national and international journals and of more than 40 contributions on national and intern ational conference proceedings. He is winner of the Geological Society’s “Young Author Award for 20 04” He is member of It alian Geological Society since 1992 and Italian Association for Engineering Geology and Environment since 2001. He is reviewer of six international journals. "
