Biography
Ruggero Caminiti was born in Delianuova (RC) on 10/02/1948. He graduated magna cum laude in Chemistry at Roma Sapienza University in 1974. At Cagliari University he was: researcher (from 1974), lecturer (1976) and Associate Professor (1983). In 1987 he became Associate Professor at Roma Sapienza University. In 2001 he became eligible as Full Professor in Physical Chemistry. He worked in 1979-1985 at Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm) in Prof. Georg Johansson laboratory and in 1980 at Hungary Academy of Sciences (Budapest), in Dr. Gabor Palinkàs lab. In 1983 he founded his own rsearch group and since 1988 he has been director of X-Ray Diffraction Lab at Rome Sapienza Chemistry Department. He has devoted himself to the study of the structure of liquids, amorphous and polymer compounds and to physical-chemical properties in general. He has also studied the structure of biological relveant systems. In the latter field, he has proposed innovative experimental methodologies. In 2009 he started several research projects in the field of Ionic Liquids. He is author of more than 230 publications, including a patent: EDXD Diffractometer. in 2014 was coeditor with Dr. Lorenzo Gontrani of the book: The structure of ionic liquids, Springer. Has an H-index of 34, calculated with ISI database since the beginning of his carrer; from 1985, his ISI H-index is 26.
