Research Interest
The guiding principle of the research developed over the past ten years at the Physics Department's Physics Laboratory and at many other international research centers has been (and still is) the deposition, characterization and study of materials innovative in the form of thin films, mainly ceramic compounds, in particular CN x , magnetic (CdMnTe) and tribologic (nickel, hastelloy superalloys and Al-Sn alloys). The above compounds are prepared using the laser ablation technique and reactive laser ablation using pulsed nanosecond and picosecond impulses. Recently, research has also focused on the study of the morphological variations of target surface and their implications on the formation and expansion of luminous plume. Finally, a research line has been launched to develop high-efficiency metal photocathodes dedicated to advanced X-ray injectors. This activity is closely linked to the SPARC special project and is funded by INFN.
