Biography
Dr. Fausto Acernese was born in Avellino on August 16, 1975. In 2000 he graduated in Physics with Praise, Electronic-Cibernetic Address, at the University of Salerno with a thesis titled "Neural Networks for the Revelation of gravitational signals within the VIRGO project ". In 2004 he received a PhD in "Seismic Risk" at the Polo of Science and Technology of the Federico II University of Naples with a thesis titled "An interferometric seismic sensor: theoretical model and experimental performances". He was the winner of four scholarships and a research grant in the field of data analysis, modeling and sensor development in the field of Medical and Environmental Physics. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor (FIS / 07) at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Salerno. Since 2000, Dr. Acernese has been associated with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and has collaborated with the VIRGO project in the field of environmental monitoring, data analysis and the development of inertial sensors.
