Biography

Born : Naples, 25 May 1961. Current position Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences (FarmaBioMed) at the University of Salerno. Academic degrees Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Naples "Federico II" summa cum laude. Didactic Activities Organic Chemistry, Biorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry Physics and Organic Interpretative Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Salerno. Research activity1990-1997: scholar at the Department of Natural Resources Chemistry of the University of Naples, CNR Institute of Molecular Biology Chemistry, Arco Felice (NA) and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Salerno. 1998-2000: Technical Contributor (VII level) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Salerno. 2000-2006: Researcher of Organic Chemistry at the same Department. 2006-: Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at FarmaBioMed. Research Activities at Foreign Institutions 2001-2002: Visiting Scientist at the Michael Barber Center for Mass Spectrometry (MBCMS) of UMIST, Manchester, UK. Research themes: (a) Spectroscopic isolation and characterization of bioactive secondary metabolites from marine organisms. b) study of ligand-receptor interactions and mechanisms of enzymatic inhibition of natural molecules by combined approach (mass spectrometry, circular dichroism, molecular modeling). c) chemical proteomics studies (affinity chromatography, 1 and 2D gel electrophoresis, tandem mass spectrometry, bioinformatics) in the characterization of the principal molecular targets of pharmacologically active natural substances. Publications : Fifty publications on widely distributed international journals, a chapter of a book and numerous contributions to national and international congresses.
