Biography
Francesco Basile was born in Naples on May 20, 1971. He received his degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II in December 1995. From June 1996 to February 1997 he was a Process Engineer at the S. Nicola factory the Road (CE) of the PROMA Group, a multi-national metalworking machine for the automotive industry. In 1999 he was visiting scholar for six months at the Superior Politecnico Center in Zaragoza, Spain. She earned her Ph.D. degree in February 2000. From January 2000 to December 2001 she held a research grant at the University of Naples Federico II. From March 2002 to October 2014 he was Researcher for the ING / INF-04 disciplinary sector at the University of Salerno. Since November 2014 she is Associate Professor for the ING / INF-04 disciplinary field at the University of Salerno. He is the author of over 100 publications on international journals and congresses. His research interests concern the control of discrete event systems, industrial automation and robotics. He has been part of the Scientific Committee of numerous conferences. She is Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions Magazines on Automation Science and Engineering and IEEE Control Letters since December 2016 and member of IEEE Control System Society's Conference Editorial Board. He was Associate Editor of the International Journal of Robotics and Automation and IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology until December 2016. He is General Chair of the 14th Inernational Workshop on Discrete Event Systems ( WODES 2018 ). He has been responsible for the project "Innovative tools for automation software design" funded under the Campania Regional Law n.5 / 2002 - Financing 2005 and the project "Automation-oriented services for hyperflexible production lines" funded under the Campania Regional Law n.5 / 2002 - Financing 2008. From July 2004 to January 2005 he was the scientific director of a research agreement with TECHNOSYSTEM srl for the design of an advanced position controller for the hydraulic system of a Unmanned Space Vehicle (USV).From October 2010 to March 2012 he was the scientific director of a research agreement with EVERIS Italia Spa on the development of methodologies for discrete event modeling based on fault diagnosis for numerical control machines.
