Biography

Virginia Day earned her degree in Information Science in 1983 at the University of Salerno. From 1984 to 1986 he was a contract holder at the University of Salerno, from 1986 to 1992 he was a Researcher and from 1992 to 2013 he was Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Salerno. He is currently an Ordinary Professor of Computer Science and is a member of the Department of Computer Science. He was a member of the Doctoral School of PhD in "Mathematics", later a member of the PhD in "Information Sciences, Information Technology, Complex Systems and the Environment" of the University of Salerno. He currently participates in the "Doctorate Program in Mathematical and Applied Statistics" at the University of Granada (Spain). Its research activity focuses on the development of general methods for describing and analyzing complex evolving dynamic systems. Work is geared towards the following topics: - Analysis and comparison of probabilistic models for the description of neuronal systems, adaptive service systems and growth systems in a random environment - theoretical study of stochastic processes of type Markov and Gaussian - design of efficient algorithms for estimating probability density with particular attention to the densities of the first pass time and its moments in the presence of weather-dependent barriers. The main findings are the subject of numerous papers published in international scientific journals, or presented at international congresses and published extensively in related acts.
