Femia Nicola

Biography

Nicola Femia was born in Salerno in 1963. He graduated in Industrial Engineering Engineering with praise at the University of Salerno in 1988. He has been a university researcher from 1990 to 1998, associate professor from 1998 to 2001 and since 2001 is an ordinary professor of Electrotechnics at the University of Salerno. His research interests relate to the theory of circuits, methods of analysis and synthesis of high performance electronic power circuits, techniques for controlling and optimizing the power electronics of photovoltaic systems, the design of magnetic components of power, accumulation systems.He holds courses in Electrotechnics, Electronic Circuits of Power and Energy Intelligence. He is responsible for the Electronic Power Circuits Laboratory and Renewable Sources. He has been responsible for numerous research and training projects funded by industries including MagneTek, Astrid Energy Enterprises, National Semiconductor, Santerno Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Power-One, Texas Instruments and Coilcraft. He has been a lecturer in Power Electronics Design and Optimization courses organized by National Semiconductor in Europe and the United States in 2006/2007. He co-authored over 140 scientific papers published in international journals and conferences. He co-authored five patents. He was Associate Editor of International Journal of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics from 1995 to 2003. He has been the function of international referee of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, Int. Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, International Journal of Simulation Modeling Practice and Theory, IET Power Electronics, MIUR, Israel National Science Foundation. He has been a member of the technical committees of numerous international conferences. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Salerno from 2002 to 2005. He has been a member and chairman of the Patent Commission of the University of Salerno in the 2009/2010 two-year term. Femia is IEEE Senior Member. Journal of Simulation Modeling Practice and Theory, IET Power Electronics, MIUR, Israel National Science Foundation. He has been a member of the technical committees of numerous international conferences. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Salerno from 2002 to 2005.
