Biography
Graduated in Agricultural Sciences in 1989 at the University of Naples Federico II, he obtained his Ph.D. in Plant Pathology in 1994 at the same University. From 1994 to 2000 at the Federal Biological Research Center for Agriculture and Forestry, Dossenheim Institute, Germany and under the guidance of prof. E. Seemüller, has conducted studies and research using a CNR annual scholarship, a biennial of the University of Naples Federico II and an EU research mobility grant of two years. In the period 2000-2007 he was a biennial research grant as well as various contracts for carrying out research activities at the University of Basilicata. Since November 2006 he has been a professor of second-tier role, SSD AGR / 12 (Plant pathology), at the University of Salerno. In 2014 he obtained the national scientific qualification for first-class university professor (SSD AGR / 12). The research activity carried out mainly concerned the phytoplasmology sector. Particular emphasis was given to the identification and molecular characterization of phytoplasms infecting various species of fruit, forest, shrubs and herbaceous plants cultivated and spontaneous in southern Italy. Various entities of such prokaryotes and associated diseases have been identified and described for the first time in the world and / or Europe or Italy. He also contributed to the advancement of knowledge on taxonomy and phylogeny of phytoplasmas and conducted studies on the genomic organization of such molasses. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Journal of Plant Pathology, Annals of Applied Biology and Phytopathogenic Mollicutes, and has been a reviewer of articles for various national and international journals as well as various research projects. He is the author of 143 publications, many of which appeared in international magazines with impact factor.
