Biography
The professor. Placido Neri received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1985 at the University of Catania. From 1984 to 1998 he was a member of the National Research Council (CNR) at the "Institute for the Study of Natural Nutrition and Chemistry-Pharmaceuticals" (ISSN) in Catania, where he was responsible for the Department of Chemistry of Compounds Macrocyclic "(1992-98). In the 1990-91 period he was a visiting researcher at Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, Illinois (USA). In 1998-2002 he was Associate Professor and since 2002 Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Salerno. At the same Department he was Coordinator of the ' Chemistry Area of Chemistry (AA 02/03 and 03/04), Coordinator of the PhD in Chemistry (Cycles XVI-XXI, 01/04/03 to 07/12/05), and President of the Chemistry Education Area (from 09/12/05 to 30/09/08) with the responsibility of the Degree Course in Chemistry Triennale and the Specialization Course in Chemistry of the New Order. From January 2009 to date is Vicar Presiding of the Faculty of Science MM.FF.NN. He is currently responsible for the courses of "Organic Chemistry II", "Physical Methods in Organic Chemistry" and "Supramolecular Chemistry" for the Degree in Chemistry. Since 1996 he has been the "Regional Coordinator for Italy" of the Global Supramolecular Chemistry Network. Since 1999 he has been the official Scientific Contributor of the ISBN-CNR. The research activity of prof. Placido Neri, started in the field of the chemistry of natural substances of biological interest, continued with the study of the interactions of biologically active substances with biomacromolecules by multidimensional NMR and has further evolved in the field of chemistry of macrocyclic compounds of bioorganic and supramolecular interest. His research work was the subject of more than 125 publications in international journals, including reviews and chapters in multiautomatic books, and a patent.
