Biography
Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biology, University of Salerno, SSD MED / 04-Pathology General. Laurea in Biological Sciences summa cum laude (1985) and Doctor in Research in "Molecular Biology and Pathology" (1992) at the University " Federico II "in Naples. Assistant (former Law 285) (1982-1990), Technical (1990-2000) and then Researcher (2000-2006) CNR at the Institute of Endocrinology and Experimental Oncology of Naples. Associate Professor of General Pathology at the University of Salerno since 2006. Host guest (1988) at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), and (1991) at the Institute of Morphology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva (Switzerland) .Managing Editor for "Frontier in Biosciences"; auditor for numerous international journals (including Nature, Blood, American Journal Pathology, J Cell Science, Clinical Cancer Res, JBC). Rapporteur at numerous international congresses including the Gordon Research Conference "Plasminogen activation & extracellular proteolysis" (2006). Author of numerous publications in international journals and book chapters. Responsible for research projects funded by the European Community (FP-6), AIRC, MIUR (PRIN), CNR. National Project Coordinator PRIN 2007. His studies have been focusing on the role of the uCAR receptor (uPAR) for many years and, in particular, on the role of uPAR in cell adhesion and migration. He currently studies the role of uPAR in hematopoietic stem cell biology, the functional interactions of uPAR with chemotaxis receptors, post-transcriptional regulation of the expression of the iPAR expression.
