Biography
A pupil of Lanfranco Caretti, he directed his studies mainly on Machiavelli and on the Florentine historiography of the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. On these issues he has participated in numerous conferences in Italy, France and Switzerland. He collaborates with the National Institute of Renaissance Studies in Florence, for which he is finishing the critical edition of Florentine History (1492-1518) by Piero Parenti: after the first two volumes, released in 1994 and 2005, the third and last is in the layout phase. He also worked on Dante, Ariosto, and modern novels, from Manzoni and Nievo until after the Second World War. He is planning an extensive work on the Leopardi Songs
