Antonella Brizzi

Biography

Antonella was born in Siena and she’s living therein. During the university education she got a scholarship (Erasmus grant) at the Organic Chemistry Department of the University of Swansea, where she worked on the asymmetric synthesis of natural products and followed a NMR spectroscopy course. In 1997 she graduated summa cum laude in Medicinal Chemistry at University of Siena discussing an organic thesis on synthesis of podophyllotoxin derivatives. In 2002 she received the PhD in Medicinal Sciences with a final dissertation on new HIV-1 integrase inhibitors. From 2002 to 2005, she worked at Dipartimento Farmaco Chimico Tecnologico with a research grant on “Synthesis of compound analogous of Anandamide”. From the first of October 2007 she has been designated as University Researcher at the Dipartimento di Biotecnologie Chimica e Farmacia and at the present she’s working on synthesis of new cannabinergic and TRPV1 ligands. She has been also designed as “Professore Aggregato” of the Facoltà di Farmacia and she takes the courses of “Analisi Qualitativa e Quantitativa delle Sostanze Naturali”, “Laboratorio di Analisi Chimica delle Sostanze con Attività Biologica”and, “Analisi dei Medicinali I I”.
