Biography
Emanuela Maioli received the degree in Biological Sciences "cum laude" in 1977. From 1978 to 1982 she was research fellow at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Univ. of Siena, studying the role of PTH, PTHrP and Calcitonin in bone metabolism. Since 1983 she is assistant professor at the University of Siena. Her initial fields of research included pharmacology and physiology of cytokines and the amyloid aggregation of the Atrial Natriuretic Peptide. Recent studies have been focused on the PTHrP role in the control of proliferation, migration and invasivity of normal and cancer cells. Currently, she is studying, in vitro, the possible application of natural compounds (Rottlerin) in anticancer therapy.
