Biography
Fabio Mugnaini , degree in Literature, anthropological address, 1984, DEA at the EHESS of Toulouse, 1994. Professor of History of Popular Traditions, European Ethnology and Performance Anthropology, at the courses in Ethno-anthropological Disciplines and Master's Degree in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology, at the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy, University of Siena. In 1990 he began his collaboration in the teaching and research activities of the demo-anthropological teachings of the University of Siena, where he merges the acquisitions of a personal research activity centered on the theme of regional cultural heritage (shared memory and popular traditions in Tuscany) in the perspective of the processes of formation of contemporary popular culture. The regional ethnographic practice has supported extensive comparative prospecting (Mexico, Canada, in addition to other European regions) that led him to assume the study of objects of classical folklore relevance (fairy tales, feast, religious ritual) in the key of European ethnology. Parallel to the ethnographic research, he is involved in a reflection on the theoretical-methodological status of the demological discipline, and in his renewal in the direction of contemporary complexity, where the themes of the anthropology of the festive celebrations, the patrimonialization policies, the practices of multiculturalism, interactions between forms of popular culture and the opportunities of the digital age. In the last four years, in teaching and research activities, he has added managerial experiences (Direction of the Master's Degree Course, Direction of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Board of Directors of the University of Siena).
