Biography

In the two-year period 1983-1986 he carried out a series of exercises at the Chair of History and Institutions of Afro-Asian Countries. In the years 1994 and 1996 he held in these two professorships a series of lessons on Italian-German relations from the advent of fascism to the Second World War ; in the years 1997-1999 he was the holder of a module of History of Europe on the minor fascism in Eastern Europe . and in the academic year 2007-2008, by substitution, the teaching of History of Europe. From the academic year 1999-2000 to the academic year 2012-2013 he taught Military History at the Faculty of Political Science. He also worked on oral sources for the history of the Second World War; among his contributions the volumes : Ghino's War. From the mountains of Albania to the sands of El-Alamein (1940-1942). Memories of a soldier , New Image, Siena 1996; War and memory (1940-1945). World War II in the memories of veterans of the Val d'Arbia , Cantagalli, Siena 2000. He also dedicated himself to the sources of memorials by publishing the essay : Battle Scenes. From the "Diario" by Edoardo Lampis, a Lieutenant Doctor, a prisoner in Libya, 1915-1916 (in "Contemporanea, magazine of the history of the nineteenth and twentieth century", 2001, n.1). He is the curator of the series Words of War , published by Cantagalli-Siena), dedicated to the enhancement of the diaries and memoirs of Italian fighters in World War II; for it he published the volumes : 1. Diary of war by the bersagliere Ivo Brogini 1940-1945 , 2002; 2. War diary and imprisonment of the sergeant major Silvio Forzieri 1941-1945 , 2003; 3 . Diary of imprisonment of the second lieutenant Nicola Rossi 1943-1945 , (in collaboration with R. Bartali), 2003; 4. Diary and letters of Major Gian Battista Conenna (1941-1943) , 2004; 5. Diary and war letters of the corporal Francesco Sanò 1940-1943, 2005; 6. in collaboration with R. Bartali), Diary and memories of war by the sailor Mario Panfili 1940-1945 . 2005; 7. (in collaboration with F. PELLEGRINI), Diary of captivity of the sergeant major Giuseppe Aldo Carmignani 1943- 1945, 2005; 8. (in collaboration with A. Vannini), Diary of imprisonment of the second lieutenant Martino Bardotti. Military internship September 1943 - December 1944 . 2007. Completely detached from these issues, but still in the context of military history, it is a volume published in the series  Documents of History (edited by Prof. Mario Ascheri) for the Department of Historical, Legal, Political and Social Sciences) entitled: The War between Siena and Perugia (1357-1359). Notes a forgotten conflict , Cantagalli, Siena 2003.
