Biography
Prof. Maurizio Anzini (MA) graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1976 (Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy). In 1977 he entered to the Italian College of Pharmacists and in 1980 got the specialization in Chemical Clinical Analyses at the University of Camerino, Italy). Currently he is working as an associate professor in University of Siena. Prof. Anzini published 99 peer-reviewed papers and 7 national and international patents till date.
Research Interest
His research interest are in synthesis of new ligands for the central benzodiazepine receptor (CBR) and for the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR – TSPO) and characterization of the molecular basis of CBR/PBR selectivity; Synthesis of new cycloogenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors; Drug Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of New Neuroprotective Agents Potentially Useful in Brain Diseases; Design and synthesis of arylpiperazine derivatives related to quipazine and characterization of their interaction with 5-HT3 receptors; Design, synthesis, and structural characterization of new polymeric substances and their evaluation in controlled drug release & to set up and validation of analytical methods for quali-quantitative determination of drugs and their metabolites by means of HPLC and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE).
