Biography
Maurizio Taddei was born in Florence in 1955 and obtained his doctoral degree in Chemistry in 1979 from the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Florence, under the supervision of Professor Alfredo Ricci.After a post-doctoral stay at the University Chemical Laboratories in Cambridge (UK) with Prof. Ian Fleming, he became Research Assistant at the University of Florence in 1984, and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Florence in 1992. In 1994 he became Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Science at the University of Sassari, and since 2001 he is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Siena. In 1990 he was awarded the G. Ciamician silver medal of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society. In 2012 he received the annual award for excellence in research in the field of organic synthesis and synthetic methods. He is author of more than 180 papers in scientific journals in the fields of organic synthesis, bioorganic chemistry and medicinal chemistry and 12 patents on synthetic application to innovative medicines. His fields of interest consist in natural product and biologically active product synthesis, high-throughput organic synthesis, and development of microwave-assisted synthetic methodologies.
