Sergio Roda is working as Professor (Roman History) at the Department of Historical Studies, University of Turin, Italy.
Research Interest
As part of Sergio Roda research activity in the disciplinary scientific field of Roman History, he focused on topics of political, institutional, social, economic and cultural history of the late Roman empire; of the history of the aristocracies of Roman power between high and low empire; of cultural, ideological and religious history between the high and late empire; of institutional and geopolitical problems in the dynamics of affirmation and stabilization of the Rome empire; the problems of the role and ideology of the city in the long term of the Roman world; the study of romanization and the processes of integration between conquerors and conquered with particular reference to northern Italy; of the methodological analysis of Latin epigraphic sources; of relations between the empire of Rome and modern empires; of the memory of the ancient as an instrument of understanding the present; of the model of the Roman imperial republic, reinterpreted and applied over the centuries; of the reception of the ancient in modern and contemporary times
