Biography
"Giampaolo Perna was born in Hartford (USA) in 1964 from an Italian father and a Japanese mother. He took his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the State University of Milan, obtaining later a PhD and becoming Psychiatrist. He has been the Vice Chief of the Anxiety Disorders Unit of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. In 2009 he was appointed as Scientific Director and Chief and in 2013 as Chairman of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at San Benedetto Menni Hospital of the Sisters Hospitallers in Albese con Cassano (Como) and of the European Center for Anxiety and Emotional Disorders in Milan. He is also President of the Scientific Committee of the non profit association ALPA (Association Free from Panic and Anxiety) and Scientific Director of the International Foundation for the Support of Research in Psychiatry. He is Voluntary Professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami (USA), Director of the International Master in Affective Neurosciences of the Universities of Maastricht and Florence, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, Maastricht University (The Netherlands) and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Psychology of San Raffaele Vita-Salute University in Milan. In 2017 he obtained the national scientific qualification to function as full professor in Italian Universities He is member of the executive committee of the AIAMC (Italian Association Behavior Analysis and Modification) and Chair of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) section on Personalized Psychiatry. He is member of the “New York Academy of Sciences†and one of the most quoted international researcher in the field of Anxiety and Panic Disorders being the author of 142 articles in peer reviewed international journals with Impact factor (JCR) with a mean IF>4 per article. His H-index is 36/31 (Google Scholar/Scopus) and is global Impact Factor (2016) more than 500."
