Biography
He is an electronic engineer, with a PhD in Electronics and a Master degree in BioEngineering, working in the field of nano-science. His main investigations are devoted to optical, electro-optical and nano-mechanical properties of anisotropic materials, including liquid crystals and soft biological tissues, such as the cornea. He also has extensive experience in designing of methematical models capable to simulate and predict optical and mechanical behaviour of corneal tissue. In the last years, he is also working in the design of pattern-recognition algorithms applied to retinal micro-structures acquired by Adaptive Optical set-up. He is also expert at the technological transfer and intellectual property fields. He is scientific responsible of CNR activities of the TECHNEST incubator, which it is located in the University of Calabria (Rende, Italy). In the last years, he was project manager of the technological activities of a start-up company (Innova Solar Energy SpA) co-founded by Pierluigi Zappacosta (co-founder of Logitech) which develops parabolic solar concentrator system based on stirling engine. He is also consultant of several for the technological transfer activity in the field of nanoscience and renewable energy. He is author of more than 60 scientific paper on peer reviewed international journals; he has presented, as author, more than n. 80 lectures in national and international congresses and he is inventor of n. 7 patents. Moreover he has been awarded an innovation prize for the development of innovative simulator of ocular aberration induced by refractive surgery.
